a lamp and a motor (note that you will find the symbol of a motor on page 552 in your text). You
want to connect everything such that the light will tell you when the motor stops working.

When the motor is working, it completes the circuit and the lamp lights up. If the motor stops working, the circuit is broken and the lamp turns off, indicating that the motor is not functioning.
