and how it will be used?
Answer
- Lago impacted Othello directly by manipulating him into believing that Desdemona was unfaithful, which ultimately led to Othello's tragic downfall. (Act 3, Scene 3, Lines 90-91: "I'll pour this pestilence into his ear.")
- Lago indirectly impacted Cassio by getting him drunk and causing him to lose his position as lieutenant. This also played a role in Lago's plan to bring down Othello. (Act 2, Scene 3, Lines 45-46: "I have very poor and unhappy brains for drinking.")
- Lago's actions had a significant impact on the plot as they drove the main conflict and led to the tragic ending. Without Lago's manipulation, Othello would not have killed Desdemona and himself. (Act 5, Scene 2, Lines 358-359: "I kissed thee ere I killed thee. No way but this, Killing myself, to die upon a kiss.")
- In the Handkerchief Box, the significance of the handkerchief is that it serves as a symbol of Othello and Desdemona's love. Lago steals it and uses it as evidence to convince Othello of Desdemona's infidelity. (Act 3, Scene 3, Lines 287-288: "Trifles light as air are to the jealous confirmations strong as proofs of holy writ.")
