When you include research in your writing, you must give
credit by including citations in two places:
1. In-text (also called "parenthetical citations)
-These are abbreviated citations for quotes and
paraphrases you use in the body of your essay.
-These appear directly after a quote/paraphrase
within the text
2. Works Cited
-This is the detailed listing of all the sources you use in
your essay
-The Works Cited Is a separate page at the end of your
essay.
Note: In-text citations and Works Cited citations are
connected. Every in-text (or parenthetical) citation will have
a full reference on the Works Cited page. Conversely, every
citation on the works cited page will have an abbreviated
in-text citation somewhere in the body paragraphs of your
essay
How to show citations:
-The format for citations varies by the type of source
- e.g. books, periodicals, peer-reviewed journals, the
Internet, etc.
