Annabel's family was shocked to learn that the man they had welcomed into their home was actually Jimmy Valentine, the notorious criminal. However, they were also moved by his story and his transformation. Annabel's father, in particular, was proud of the man his daughter had chosen to love. The townspeople were also surprised to learn of Jimmy's true identity, but they were also impressed by his transformation and his courage to face his past.
Annabel and Jimmy/Ralph were married soon after, and the townspeople celebrated their union. Annabel's family was happy to see her so in love and content. The couple moved away from the town and started a new life together, and the townspeople wished them well. Annabel and Jimmy/Ralph lived happily ever after, and the townspeople never forgot the story of the reformed criminal and the woman who loved him.
