Torrez viewed Spanish rule in New Mexico as having a lasting and positive impact on the region, while the Pueblo Revolts were similar to the battles between the Marathas and the Mughals in that they were both attempts to resist foreign rule. However, the Pueblo Revolts differed from the Cossack Revolts in that the Pueblo Revolts were led by Native Americans, while the Cossack Revolts were led by Cossacks.
