Centrifugation spins the blood sample at a high rate of speed, causing the largest population of cells
(the RBCs) to be pulled to the bottom of the centrifuge tube (Figure 2. 1). The procedure causes the
other formed elements to become separated from the BC population, forming a narrow whitish
layer on top called the buffy coat. Plasma is Isolated on top of the buffy coat.
