London's secret museums
London has got more than 300 museums, including the famous British Museum and Natural History
Museum. But it's also got lots of small museums for unusual themes and objects.
In fact, one of my favourite museums in London is Pollocks Toy Museum. The museum is in two
Georgian townhouses in Fitzrovia, an historic area in the centre of Loncon. In the museum there are
six small rooms full of dolts, teddy bears and other unique toys from around the world The toys are
mostly from the Victorian period, but there are aiso some very old toys. They ve even got an Egyptian
toy mouse - it's 4,000 years oldi
Another great secret museum is The Old Operating Theatre Museum in Southwark. It's a museum
about medicine and surgery in the 18th and 19th centuries. It's got lots of very interesting objects
and it's even got the original operating theatre from 1822, It's very different from today's hospitals
It's also in an amazing location - in the attic of an English baroque church! The church is in front of The
Shard - a glass and metal skyscraper by Renzo Piano. It's very modern This is my favourite area of
London because it's got old and new bulidings together,
