The Chinese Civil War was a conflict between the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the Kuomintang (KMT) that lasted from 1927 to 1950. The CCP was led by Mao Zedong and the KMT was led by Chiang Kai-shek. The war resulted in the victory of the CCP and the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949. The consequences of the war included the displacement of millions of people, the death of millions of people, and the destruction of much of China's infrastructure.
