The House of Representatives begins the impeachment process and the Senate acts as the jury and tries the case. The Chief Justice of the United States acts as the judge at the impeachment trial of a President. Two-thirds of the Senate needs to agree for an official to be convicted. President Andrew Johnson was the only President to have gone through the entire impeachment process. President Nixon resigned at the point of the impeachment process when the House Judiciary Committee voted to recommend his impeachment. No other Presidents have been removed from office by being found guilty after the impeachment process.
