As Paul stuffed his khakis into the washing machine, he knew what his parents would say about his predicament. "You found out about the
job interview three days ago-plenty of time to make sure your clothes were clean and pressed"
Paul had thought the pants were ready because they'd been hanging in his closet. He'd forgotten that he hung them there even though the
knees were streaked with grass stains, What was he thinking? It would have been just as easy to wash them with His jeans and Tshirts.
Now Paul had half an hour to get the khakis washed and died. Even with the machine set for the smallest load, the wash would take twenty
minutes. That left just ten minutes for drying--not enough.
He wondered whether there was a shortcut he could take.
